Lewisville Stump Grinding: Tree & Shrub Removal Services
1-2-Tree uses a specialty machine designed to grind stumps as quickly as possible without damaging your yard. We have stump grinders with wheels and stump grinders with tracks, and will use the machine best suited for your location. In preparation for stump grinding, a tree needs to be cut as close to the ground as possible – 1-2-Tree can do that for you, too. Before we begin the stump work, our knowledgeable tree experts will assess the area to ensure our machine will fit into the necessary space without harming any surrounding sections or structures.
Following approval, we notify Texas 811 to mark potentially affected utilities to cover our bases as well as protect customers from damage they cannot see under the surface. Please note that not all services subscribe to Texas 811, and we cannot predict the location of irrigation lines; therefore, we are not responsible for damage done to underground irrigation, plumbing, wires, etc.
The scope of the job depends on the size and location of the stump. Some smaller stumps can take 30 minutes while larger stumps can take hours.
After stump grinding is complete, there will be a mound of sawdust/compost-like material. It will start to settle in the days and weeks following removal. We recommend customers wait for this process to occur rather than try to remove the mound themselves, which can leave customers with a depression in their yard that will need to be backfilled.
The decomposition process starts with the underlying root ball and root structure. It can take weeks or months for that to break down depending on the tree type, health, the homeowner’s watering schedules, normal weather patterns, time of year, etc.
1-2-Tree does not recommend replanting new trees in the same spot. Rather, we suggest moving several feet in any direction. As mentioned above, we cannot remove the whole root ball, so it can take time to break down that root ball enough to efficiently dig through. Additionally, to give a new tree the best chance at survival, you do not want to plant it in the root cages of a previous tree.
